Zelensky urges more Patriot interceptors as civilian deaths rise in Ukraine

Officials confirmed that the strike caused extensive structural damage and ignited a fire that hampered initial rescue efforts, while families of the victims gathered outside the site awaiting information.

The tragedy has intensified Zelensky’s longstanding appeal for additional air‑defence systems, specifically Patriot interceptors, as Ukraine braces for a harsher winter and anticipates further Russian aggression. The president has argued that bolstering Ukraine’s missile‑defence capability is essential to protect civilian infrastructure and reduce civilian casualties.
