Xbox to publish Hideo Kojima's Physint after Sony cancels project

Xbox announced that it will serve as the publisher for *Physint*, the next title from Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions, after Sony’s PlayStation division withdrew from the partnership. The shift was revealed amid a series of statements from PlayStation, Xbox, Kojima Productions and Kojima himself, marking a rapid realignment of the game’s publishing arrangements.

Sony, which had published Kojima Productions’ previous releases *Death Stranding* and *Death Stranding 2*, described the decision to step away as “difficult” but emphasized that its overall relationship with the studio remains strong. In a post on his personal X account, Kojima said Sony delivered an unexpected cancellation notice in June, prompting his team to spend the subsequent three months re‑evaluating the project’s development and publishing strategy.
