World Bank estimates Venezuela earthquakes caused $19.6 billion in damage

A recent assessment of the twin earthquakes that struck the region indicates that residential structures bore the brunt of the destruction, accounting for 47 percent of all reported physical damage. The analysis, compiled by the national disaster management agency, was based on field surveys and satellite imagery collected in the weeks following the seismic events.

The remaining damage was distributed among public infrastructure, commercial facilities, and industrial sites, with each sector experiencing varying levels of impact. Officials have begun prioritizing the repair and reconstruction of homes, while also coordinating temporary shelter and financial assistance for displaced families.
