WHO declares Hantavirus ship‑linked outbreak over

The World Health Organization’s Director‑General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, confirmed that no new cases of the disease have been reported since 25 May. The announcement comes after a brief spike in infections that prompted an international alert and a coordinated response from national health authorities.

Since the first cases were identified earlier this year, the WHO has been monitoring the situation closely, working with affected countries to strengthen surveillance, testing, and contact‑tracing efforts. The latest data indicate that the outbreak is stabilizing, with the most recent cases occurring in the weeks leading up to 25 May and no subsequent reports in the following days.
