Western Europe records hottest June‑July period

Western Europe recorded its hottest June–July on record, according to the European Union’s Global Warming Monitor released Monday. The report, which tracks temperature trends across the continent, shows that the two‑month period surpassed the previous record by a significant margin, with average temperatures climbing well above long‑term norms.

The surge in heat has intensified drought conditions and sparked widespread wildfires across the region.
