Weekly 75-Minute Walk Cuts Belly Fat, Study Finds
A recent four‑month study has shown that a modest weekly exercise routine can produce significant health gains for adults with excess abdominal fat. Researchers recruited 315 participants who carried excess weight around the waist and assigned them to one of two regimens: a single 75‑minute session of brisk interval walking each week, or the same total amount of exercise spread across three days.
The findings revealed that the single‑session group experienced reductions in body fat and waist circumference, as well as improvements in cardiovascular fitness, that were comparable to those achieved by the multi‑day group. This suggests that a concentrated, high‑intensity walking bout can be as effective as more frequent, shorter sessions for individuals struggling with central obesity.
The study’s results offer a practical alternative for people who find it difficult to commit to multiple exercise sessions per week. By concentrating the activity into one manageable session, individuals may still reap the benefits of weight loss and enhanced heart health, potentially improving adherence to physical activity recommendations.
