Volvo Revamps XC40 for 2028
Volvo Cars has unveiled a refreshed version of its compact SUV, the XC40, announcing a “sympathetic makeover” that updates both its exterior styling and interior technology. The new design features a revised front fascia with a larger, more angular grille, updated LED headlights, and a slightly reworked bumper that gives the vehicle a sharper, more contemporary silhouette. Inside, the cabin now sports a larger infotainment touchscreen, a revised digital instrument cluster, and upgraded materials that align with the brand’s commitment to sustainability.
The facelift also brings a host of functional upgrades. The 1.5‑litre turbocharged engine is paired with a new mild‑hybrid system that improves fuel efficiency and reduces emissions, while the updated driver‑assistance suite includes additional sensors for enhanced safety. New wheel designs and a range of fresh exterior paint options broaden the vehicle’s appeal, and the refreshed XC40 will be produced at Volvo’s Gothenburg plant for markets across Europe and North America.
With the updated XC40 set to go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2024, Volvo aims to strengthen its position in the competitive compact luxury SUV segment, where it competes with models such as the Audi Q3 and BMW X1. The makeover underscores the automaker’s focus on blending cutting‑edge design with advanced technology and environmental responsibility, positioning the XC40 to attract buyers looking for a modern, safety‑first vehicle.
