Volvo boosts battery capacity for 2028 XC60 and XC90 plug-in models
Volvo has announced that its latest model refresh will include an upgraded infotainment suite featuring the Gemini platform. The new system, which will be standard across the refreshed S60, XC60, and XC90 line‑up, replaces the previous Sensus interface and offers a larger touchscreen, integrated navigation, and support for over‑the‑air software updates. Gemini also brings native compatibility with Android Automotive, enabling seamless access to Google services, voice‑activated controls, and a broader selection of third‑party apps.
The rollout is slated to begin in the second quarter of 2025, with the updated vehicles expected to arrive at dealerships worldwide later in the year. By adopting Gemini, Volvo aims to align its in‑car technology with industry trends toward more connected and customizable user experiences, while maintaining the brand’s emphasis on safety and driver assistance features. The new infotainment system will be offered alongside existing safety suites, reinforcing Volvo’s strategy of integrating advanced digital services into its premium Scandinavian lineup.
