Violence erupts in Ceuta as migrants and locals clash

A group of migrants was reported to have thrown stones at a military vehicle, prompting a response from security forces, while a number of local residents set fire to the migrants’ beachside camps. The incidents occurred in close succession on the same shoreline, leading to heightened tensions and prompting police and military officials to intervene in order to restore order and protect public safety.

Authorities have launched investigations into both the alleged assault on the military vehicle and the arson attacks on the camps. Officials emphasized that any acts of violence or property damage will be prosecuted in accordance with the law, and they called for calm while efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to the displaced individuals continue.
