Vingegaard leads Tour de France after Visma wins opening team time trial

Danish rider Jonas Vingegaard’s Visma‑Lease a Bike squad captured victory in the opening team time‑trial of this year’s Tour de France, held on Saturday in Barcelona. The 10‑kilometre effort saw the team post the fastest time, giving Vingegaard an early advantage in the general classification and setting the tone for the first stage of the three‑week race.

Slovenian contender Tadej Pogačar delivered a strong performance in the same trial, positioning himself close to the leaders and reinforcing his bid to become only the fifth cyclist to win the Tour de France five times. As the race moves from the Catalan capital toward the Pyrenees, both Vingegaard and Pogačar will look to build on their opening results in the pursuit of overall victory.
