Versailles Royal Chapel Opens to Public

The royal chapel of the Palace of Versailles, long closed for restoration work, has opened its doors to the public for the first time in decades. The historic space, which once served only the royal family, will now welcome visitors until September 27, offering a rare opportunity to experience its grandeur outside of private tours.

In addition to the chapel, the palace’s annexes are showcasing a collection of classical artworks that will remain on display until the end of the month. French news outlet France 24 sent reporters Luke Shrago, Lilou Bernoville and Louis‑Malo Rendu to investigate the reopening and to highlight the restored interiors and the new art exhibitions.

The reopening marks a significant milestone in Versailles’ ongoing preservation efforts, allowing the public to appreciate the architectural and artistic heritage of the former royal residence. Visitors can now explore both the historic chapel and the surrounding galleries before the temporary opening period concludes.
