Venezuela’s death toll from the twin earthquakes that struck the coastal state of La Guaira on 24 June has risen to 4,118, according to a statement from parliamentary leader Jorge Rodríguez posted on Telegram. The seismic events flattened entire districts, leaving 16,740 people injured and thousands more unaccounted for, according to official figures released on Friday. The disasters have devastated the region’s infrastructure, overwhelming local emergency services and prompting a nationwide call for assistance.

In response, United Nations officials and President Delcy Rodríguez have appealed for international financial aid to support rescue operations, medical care, and reconstruction efforts. The appeals underscore the scale of the humanitarian crisis and the urgent need for resources to locate the missing, treat the injured, and rebuild the affected communities.
