USDA recalls 30,000 pounds of Argentine beef in Texas and Florida

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced a voluntary recall of approximately 30,000 pounds of Argentine‑origin beef that was marketed in Texas and Florida. The recall, issued on Tuesday, covers several cuts sold under the “Carne de la Patagonia” label and identified by lot numbers A‑2024‑01 through A‑2024‑05. The FSIS said the product may be contaminated with Salmonella Typhimurium, a pathogen that can cause gastrointestinal illness, and advised consumers to discard the meat or return it to the point of purchase for a full refund.

Retailers in the two states have been notified, and the USDA is working with distributors to remove the affected items from shelves. Consumers who purchased the beef between January 15 and March 30 are urged to check their freezers and refrigerators for the recalled packages and to follow the safety instructions on the USDA website. The agency will continue to monitor the situation and coordinate with Argentine authorities to prevent further distribution of potentially unsafe products.
