US military kills four on drug boat in Caribbean strike

U.S. forces carried out a lethal strike on Tuesday against an alleged drug‑trafficking vessel in the Caribbean, according to a statement from U.S. Southern Command. The boat was reportedly following “established narco‑trafficking routes” identified by the command’s maritime surveillance network. Four individuals on board were killed in the operation.

The strike follows a similar action taken on Monday, when U.S. forces targeted an alleged drug boat in the Eastern Pacific. That engagement resulted in the deaths of two crew members. Southern Command said both operations were part of a broader effort to disrupt the movement of illicit narcotics from Latin America to the United States.

Commander Gen. John Smith, commander of U.S. Southern Command, emphasized that the missions were carried out in accordance with U.S. law and international agreements. He noted that the continued interdiction of suspected drug vessels is a key element of the U.S. strategy to curb the flow of narcotics into the country.
