US attacks five Iranian oil tankers, Iran strikes Jordan in retaliation

The United States military announced that it conducted strikes against five Iranian-flagged tankers following two separate attacks by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on a U.S. warship over the past two days. The IRGC reportedly launched missile and drone assaults that forced the warship to maneuver defensively, prompting the U.S. to respond with precision strikes aimed at disabling the vessels believed to be supporting the hostile actions.

U.S. Central Command said the targeted tankers were located in the Gulf of Oman and were linked to the IRGC’s maritime operations.
