US and Iran plan next Doha talks after Iran's former supreme leader funeral

Doha announced that the forthcoming diplomatic gathering will be convened only after the conclusion of funeral processions for Iran’s late supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The Qatari foreign ministry said the postponement is intended to respect the mourning period in Tehran and to allow participating officials to observe the ceremonies before resuming discussions.

The next session, which is expected to address regional security and cooperation issues, will be scheduled once the state‑organized mourning events have ended, according to the ministry’s statement. Qatar emphasized that the delay will not affect the agenda of the meeting and that the participants remain committed to continuing dialogue once the funeral proceedings are completed.
