UN Warns of Rising Civilian Risks as Israeli Control Expands in Gaza

The United Nations and a coalition of humanitarian partners issued a warning on Wednesday that the ongoing expansion of Israeli‑controlled zones in Gaza since the ceasefire agreement reached in October is heightening the danger to civilians and tightening restrictions on aid delivery. The statement notes that new checkpoints, military posts and restricted access points are being established, limiting the ability of relief agencies to reach displaced populations and deliver essential supplies.

The UN report cites several incidents in which civilians have been caught in the cross‑fire or denied evacuation routes due to the newly erected barriers. Humanitarian workers also report that the growing perimeter has made it increasingly difficult to transport food, medicine and shelter materials, forcing many aid convoys to detour or wait for clearance. The partners urge the Israeli authorities to maintain the ceasefire terms and to allow unhindered humanitarian access to all affected areas.
