UN Security Council Receives Iran Referral Over Nuclear Non‑Compliance

Tehran on Monday denounced a newly adopted United Nations Security Council resolution that calls for unrestricted International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspections of Iran’s nuclear sites, describing the measure as “unjustified” and politically motivated. The Iranian foreign ministry issued a statement asserting that the resolution fails to acknowledge the security challenges the country faces in the region.

In its response, Iran blamed recent strikes attributed to the United States and Israel for hampering the IAEA’s ability to conduct thorough inspections of its nuclear facilities. Tehran cited a series of air attacks in the past year that targeted what it described as “civilian nuclear infrastructure,” arguing that the damage caused by those operations has created gaps in the agency’s monitoring regime and undermined the credibility of any external assessment.

The condemnation comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to revive the 2015 nuclear agreement, with the United States and European powers urging Iran to comply fully with monitoring requirements.
