UN Security Council convenes on Ukraine after deadly Russian strikes

The United Nations Security Council convened on Monday at the request of Ukraine to discuss the country’s latest surge of Russian attacks. The meeting was prompted by a series of large‑scale strikes that have intensified since the invasion began, with Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities repeatedly targeted.

On 19 July, a Russian overnight strike on the capital killed at least one civilian and wounded more than a dozen others, damaging homes and civilian infrastructure.
