UN reports at least 46,000 displaced by Yemen fighting
The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) has issued an urgent alert indicating that a key migration‑related figure is increasing “by the hour.” The agency, which tracks global movement of people and provides assistance to those in transit, said the rapid rise reflects heightened pressure on migration routes and a growing number of individuals requiring immediate support.
IOM officials highlighted that the escalation follows a series of recent incidents along major corridors, including a surge in arrivals to coastal entry points and a spike in reported distress cases at sea. The organization warned that the accelerating trend could strain rescue operations and humanitarian resources, urging governments and partner agencies to coordinate swift responses to mitigate further risk to vulnerable migrants.
