UN Chiefs of Police Summit emphasizes people‑centred policing for peace

Top United Nations officials emphasized that “policing is the cornerstone of peace” as the fifth UN Chiefs of Police Summit opened on Tuesday in Geneva. The three‑day gathering brings together senior police leaders from more than 70 member states, as well as representatives from international bodies, to discuss strategies for strengthening law‑enforcement cooperation, enhancing community safety, and addressing emerging security challenges such as cybercrime, trafficking and transnational terrorism.
