Ukraine Welcomes Daria Kaleniuk to Lead Anti-Corruption Action Centre

François Picard welcomed Daria Kaleniuk, Executive Director of the Anti‑Corruption Action Centre, to discuss Ukraine’s evolving wartime challenges. Kaleniuk emphasized that the conflict now extends beyond the battlefield to the nation’s institutions, arguing that battlefield victories and democratic resilience are inseparable from comprehensive reform of the defence establishment.

While acknowledging President Zelensky’s decision to appoint a younger, reform‑oriented commander‑in‑chief, Kaleniuk noted that this change represents only “half” of the necessary transformation. She stressed that the more consequential battle lies in governance, requiring deeper anti‑corruption measures and institutional overhaul to support Ukraine’s long‑term stability and democratic development.

The meeting underscored the importance of aligning military reforms with broader governance reforms. As Ukraine continues to confront both external threats and internal institutional challenges, the partnership between national leaders and anti‑corruption advocates will be crucial to ensuring sustained progress and resilience.
