Ukraine protests follow dismissal of defence minister Mykhailo Fedorov

Demonstrations broke out Thursday in multiple Ukrainian cities after President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, a figure widely regarded as a moderniser of the armed forces. Protesters in Kyiv, Lviv and Kharkiv chanted “Shame!” and “Power to the people!” as police monitored the gatherings, marking one of the rare public displays of dissent since the war began.

Fedorov, who had served only six months in the post, was removed in a move analysts attribute to internal tensions within the military hierarchy.
