UK to use Ukrainian battlefield data to train AI for infrastructure protection

London and Kyiv have signed a pioneering agreement aimed at protecting United Kingdom critical infrastructure from both domestic protestors and hostile foreign actors. Under the deal, artificial‑intelligence models trained on battlefield data from Ukraine will be deployed to monitor and mitigate threats to UK defence sites, rail networks and energy facilities.

The accord grants selected private firms access to the extensive dataset housed in Ukraine’s Avengers AI lab, enabling them to develop bespoke security solutions tailored to the UK’s needs. This marks the first time the UK has formalised such a partnership, signalling a new approach to national security that blends international intelligence sharing with commercial technology development.
