UK Researchers Urge Overhaul of Pain Care to Curb Opioid Crisis

A research team from the University of Aberdeen has released a position paper warning that opioid use disorder (OUD) in the United Kingdom is a “large and probably underestimated” public‑health issue. The authors argue that current data likely mask the true scale of the problem and that, without swift and coordinated interventions, both opioid addiction rates and opioid‑related mortality are expected to continue rising across the country.
