Two Ukraine-linked men charged with murder of Anastasiia Berezovska
Two men identified as having connections to Ukraine’s security services have been formally accused of murdering Anastasiia Berezovska, a 27‑year‑old journalist, and disposing of her body in a forested area outside Kyiv. Prosecutors allege that the suspects, both former intelligence officers, lured Berezovska to a remote location on 12 March, where she was shot and her remains were later concealed among the trees. The case was opened after Berezovska’s family reported her disappearance on 14 March, prompting a police search that uncovered her clothing and personal effects in the woods on 18 March.
Law enforcement officials said forensic analysis confirmed the cause of death as a gunshot wound and linked the crime scene to the two suspects through mobile‑phone records and surveillance footage. The men have been detained pending trial, and investigators are reviewing whether the killing was related to Berezovska’s recent reporting on security‑sector matters. Authorities have emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and that further details will be released as the case proceeds through the courts.
