Two dead and 81 injured in explosions at Bolivian army base

Bolivia’s Defence Minister announced that an initial explosion at a site storing pyrotechnic material was caused by black powder, a type of propellant commonly used in fireworks and other ceremonial devices. The blast, which officials described as the first in a series of incidents, occurred while the material was being held at the location, prompting an immediate safety assessment by military authorities.

A second, considerably larger explosion followed the first, and its cause remains under investigation.
