Trump administration report says Cuban government links US left to anti‑American coalition

A United States intelligence assessment released this week characterises the Cuban government as the “connective tissue” of a worldwide “anti‑American coalition.” The report, issued by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, argues that Havana’s leadership is facilitating coordination among a range of state and non‑state actors that seek to undermine U.S. interests, citing links with regimes in Venezuela, Nicaragua, Iran and various extremist groups operating in the Caribbean and Latin America.

The assessment notes that Cuba’s diplomatic outreach, intelligence sharing and logistical support have enabled these partners to conduct propaganda campaigns, cyber operations and illicit financial activities targeting the United States. Washington officials said the findings will inform future policy decisions, including potential sanctions and heightened monitoring of Cuban‑linked networks. The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs dismissed the report as “baseless” and warned that such accusations could further strain bilateral relations, which have already been marked by longstanding embargoes and periodic diplomatic tensions.
