Trabzonspor president shocked by disallowed Salah goal
Trabzonspor’s president, Ahmet Kaya, expressed disbelief after Mohamed Salah’s first start for the Turkish club ended with a disallowed goal in Saturday’s Süper Lig match against Antalyaspor. The Egyptian forward, who joined Trabzonspor in the summer transfer window, found the net in the 34th minute, only for the referee to overturn the decision following a VAR review.
The review determined that Salah had been offside in the buildup, prompting the officials to nullify the strike. Kaya, speaking to the press after the game, said the decision “was unexpected and contradictory to what we observed on the field,” and called for a clear explanation from the league’s disciplinary committee. Trabzonspor will continue their campaign with Salah available for upcoming fixtures, while the club awaits clarification on the VAR protocol applied in the incident.
