Tourist speedboat capsizes in Vietnam, 15 dead
Local media reported that 21 passengers were rescued after a small boat capsized in rough seas near an island off the southern coast of Vietnam. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when the vessel, reportedly carrying a group of fishermen and local travelers, was overturned by strong currents and high waves in the vicinity of the island of Phú Quốc.
Rescue teams from the Vietnam Coast Guard, assisted by nearby fishing boats, arrived within hours and managed to bring all 21 individuals to safety without any reported injuries. Authorities said the weather conditions had deteriorated rapidly, contributing to the accident, and they warned mariners to exercise heightened caution in the area until sea conditions improve. No fatalities were confirmed, and the rescued passengers were taken to a local medical facility for observation.
