Thieves steal four Renoir paintings from French Riviera museum

Two thieves cut through a fence and entered a small museum on the French Riviera by climbing through a window, stealing four valuable paintings by Pierre‑Auguste Renoir on Tuesday, authorities said. While the thieves fled with the artworks, they abandoned two of the canvases along their escape route, leaving the remaining pieces still missing. The museum, which houses a modest collection of impressionist works, reported the breach to local police, who are now conducting a forensic investigation of the scene and reviewing surveillance footage to identify the perpetrators.
