Taylor Farms recalls jalapeño products over Salmonella contamination

A nationwide recall of jalapeño‑based products has been announced, covering 26 states and affecting a wide range of foods sold at major retailers. The recall, issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, involves fresh jalapeño peppers, pre‑packaged jalapeño slices, sauces, salsas, and spice blends that were distributed to grocery chains such as Walmart, Kroger, Safeway, and Target. The affected items carry a warning that they may contain undeclared allergens or contaminants that could pose a health risk.

The recall was triggered after routine testing revealed elevated levels of a bacterial pathogen in several batches of jalapeño products. The FDA has requested that consumers who purchased any of the listed items return them to the point of sale for a full refund or, if returned, to discard them safely. Retailers are working with suppliers to remove the products from shelves and to provide consumers with information on how to identify the recalled items by lot number and expiration date.
