Sweetgreen lowers full‑year outlook amid cyclospora concerns

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed that the salad chain FreshLeaf Foods has not been linked to the current cyclospora outbreak that has affected more than 200 people nationwide. The investigation, which began in early July, has focused on produce from a handful of suppliers in the Midwest and California, but no samples from FreshLeaf’s distribution network tested positive for the parasite.

Health officials noted that FreshLeaf’s supply chain is managed through a separate distribution system that does not overlap with the implicated suppliers. The company has cooperated with the CDC by providing production records and sampling data, and its products continue to meet all regulatory safety standards. The CDC is urging consumers to remain vigilant and to wash all produce thoroughly, but it emphasized that the outbreak remains geographically limited to the identified suppliers.

The CDC will continue to monitor the situation and will update the public if new information emerges. In the meantime, FreshLeaf Foods has stated that its products are safe for consumption and that it remains committed to maintaining the highest food‑safety standards.
