Sudan Drone Strikes Threaten Civilians and Aid Operations

Drone strikes are increasingly endangering civilians and disrupting humanitarian operations in Sudan, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned on Monday. The agency said that recent attacks have struck areas already devastated by conflict, forcing aid convoys to reroute or halt altogether and leaving vulnerable populations without essential supplies.

OCHA’s statement highlights that the strikes are occurring in regions where aid agencies are already struggling to reach those in need, exacerbating shortages of food, medicine and shelter. The organization called on all parties to the conflict to respect humanitarian principles and to ensure that aid corridors remain safe and open for relief efforts.

The UN’s warning underscores the growing risk that drone attacks pose to both civilians and the delivery of life‑saving assistance in Sudan’s war‑torn zones. It urges an immediate cessation of such strikes to allow humanitarian agencies to resume their work without further impediment.
