Sudan army drone strike kills 35 in Darfur, rights group reports

The armed clash between Sudan’s army chief, General Abdel Fattah al‑Burhan, and Rapid Support Forces commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo has escalated into a full‑scale war that United Nations estimates has claimed tens of thousands of lives since fighting erupted in April 2023. The conflict, rooted in a power struggle over the country’s transitional government, has engulfed the capital Khartoum and spread to key cities such as El‑Obeid and Darfur, disrupting essential services and prompting massive civilian displacement.
