Sudan: Air attack destroys food aid for families in South Kordofan

Two truckloads of food aid bound for families in Sudan’s South Kordofan state were destroyed in an aerial attack over the weekend, the World Food Programme (WFP) confirmed on Wednesday. The strike, which targeted the humanitarian convoy as it approached the conflict‑affected region, eliminated supplies intended for thousands of residents facing acute food insecurity.

The WFP said the loss of the two trucks will exacerbate the already dire situation in South Kordofan, where ongoing hostilities have disrupted supply lines and limited access to essential assistance. The agency is assessing the incident and coordinating with authorities to secure safe corridors for future deliveries, emphasizing the need for all parties to respect humanitarian operations and prevent further setbacks to relief efforts.
