Spanish PM says no solid proof Morocco organized Ceuta migrant rush

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on Thursday that there is no “solid proof” linking Morocco to the large influx of migrants that entered the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in July. His remarks came after a police report was released highlighting a series of shortcomings by Moroccan security forces in the days surrounding the incident, which saw dozens of people attempt to cross the border in a coordinated rush.

The report, prepared by Spanish authorities, identified lapses in coordination, intelligence sharing and border monitoring on the Moroccan side, but stopped short of attributing deliberate orchestration to the North African government. While the findings have intensified diplomatic scrutiny of Morocco’s role in managing migration flows, Sanchez’s statement underscores that, as of now, no conclusive evidence has been presented to confirm state involvement, leaving the matter under continued investigation.
