SpaceX Joins Nasdaq-100, Shares Slide
A Musk‑led firm was incorporated into a major U.S. equity index on Tuesday, marking its inclusion less than a month after the company began trading publicly on June 12. The addition places the firm among the 500 largest publicly listed companies by market capitalization, reflecting the rapid growth of its share price and the meeting of the index’s liquidity and size requirements.
The company, identified as X Corp., debuted on the Nasdaq with an opening price of $45 per share and closed its first week with a 12 percent gain, propelling its market value above $40 billion. Its swift qualification for the index follows a review by the index committee that cited sustained trading volume and a broadened investor base. Analysts noted that the move could increase the firm’s visibility to institutional investors and potentially drive further demand for its stock, while also slightly adjusting the composition of the index ahead of the next quarterly rebalancing.
