Seven additional defendants sentenced in Texas ICE detention center shooting case

U.S. prosecutors have charged several individuals involved in a recent demonstration at the Prairieland Detention Center, alleging that the protesters were affiliated with the anti‑fascist movement known as Antifa. The indictment, filed in the Northern District of Texas, lists charges of conspiracy, obstruction of justice and unlawful entry, and cites communications and social‑media activity that prosecutors say link the defendants to organized Antifa networks. The protest, which took place on May 12, drew a crowd of roughly 150 people demanding the release of undocumented immigrants held at the privately operated facility in Amarillo.

The government’s filing notes that participants coordinated through encrypted messaging apps and attended prior Antifa‑related events in other cities. Defense attorneys have declined to comment on the allegations, while the detention center’s operator, CoreCivic, issued a statement condemning the “violent and unlawful tactics” of the demonstrators. The case adds to a broader federal effort to scrutinize activist groups involved in immigration‑related protests, and it remains pending as the defendants await arraignment.
