Saudi-led coalition attacks Houthi-held Hodeidah governorate

Saudi Arabia’s coalition of Arab states launched air strikes on the Hodeidah governorate, an area under the control of Yemen’s Houthi movement, according to statements released by the coalition on Tuesday. The attacks were aimed at what the coalition described as “military installations and logistics hubs” used by the Houthis to launch missiles and drones against Saudi territory. Hodeidah, a key Red Sea port that handles a substantial portion of Yemen’s humanitarian aid, has been a focal point of the conflict since the coalition began its campaign in 2015.

The coalition said the operation involved precision‑guided munitions and that no civilian infrastructure was targeted. Houthi officials, however, condemned the strikes as violations of international law and warned of potential civilian casualties. The United Nations, which monitors the security situation in the port city, called for restraint from all parties and urged that humanitarian access remain unhindered. The latest strikes underscore the ongoing volatility in the western coast of Yemen and the challenges facing efforts to achieve a cease‑fire.
