Greenpeace announced on Tuesday that a recent environmental spill has surged to cover approximately 1,300 square kilometres, a size the organization describes as “rapidly expanding.” The non‑governmental organization warned that the expanding contamination poses a serious threat to local ecosystems, including wetlands, forests, and aquatic habitats that support a diverse range of flora and fauna.

Authorities have mobilised emergency response teams to contain the spill and assess the damage, while scientists are conducting field surveys to determine the extent of ecological impact.
