Sailor on USS Abraham Lincoln says father detained by ICE

A sailor serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln disclosed on Saturday that his father has been detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The crew member, identified as Joshua Aviles, has been at sea for approximately nine months, a deployment that began in response to heightened tensions following the Iran‑Israel conflict and has been marked by reported shortages of clean water, food and other essential supplies aboard the vessel.

Aviles’ remarks highlight the personal toll of extended deployments on service members and their families, as the prolonged absence coincides with his father's immigration detention. Military officials have not provided comment on the individual case, and the Navy has not indicated any changes to the carrier’s logistical support despite the ongoing supply constraints.
