Russian-American businessman leads fund for Trump Route corridor in Caucasus

Konstantin Sokolov, a Russian‑born businessman, heads the investment fund that is financing the “Trump Route,” a planned corridor through Armenia that will link Azerbaijan with its exclave of Nakhchivan. The project, which aims to provide a direct, non‑Turkish link between the two Azerbaijani territories, is part of a broader strategy to diversify the region’s transport and energy infrastructure.

Sokolov’s fund is responsible for raising and allocating the capital required for the corridor’s construction, including land acquisition, engineering studies and construction contracts. He is also engaged in negotiations with Armenian, Azerbaijani and international stakeholders to secure permits, financing agreements and operational frameworks. Through this role, Sokolov serves as the principal financial driver and project overseer, coordinating the complex logistics and regulatory approvals necessary for the route’s completion.

The involvement of Sokolov and his investment vehicle underscores the growing participation of private capital in geopolitically sensitive infrastructure projects.
