Russia launches 453 drones in Ukraine attack, Poland scrambles jets

Russia intensified its aerial offensive against Ukraine overnight, deploying a total of 453 unmanned aerial vehicles in a coordinated strike. The barrage, part of a broader campaign that has seen a steady increase in drone usage, targeted multiple locations across Ukrainian territory and underscored Moscow’s effort to sustain pressure on Kyiv’s defenses.

One of the drones landed approximately 800 metres from a border crossing with Poland, prompting the Polish armed forces to respond by dispatching fighter jets and helicopters to the area. Polish officials confirmed the rapid deployment of air assets to secure the border and monitor any further incursions, highlighting the spill‑over risks of the conflict and the heightened state of alert among NATO’s eastern members.
