Russia hits railway locomotive near Polish border, vows continued strikes across Ukraine

Moscow announced on Monday that it will continue striking targets across the “whole” of Ukraine, a statement made as Warsaw and its NATO allies reacted to a rare drone incursion that landed on the Polish side of the border. Polish officials confirmed that a Russian‑launched drone struck a railway locomotive inside Ukrainian territory roughly two kilometres (about one mile) from the shared frontier, marking one of the few instances of the conflict spilling over into a NATO member state. The incident follows Kyiv’s claim that it had earlier hit a crossing at the border with Moldova, underscoring a pattern of cross‑border engagements in the region.

The Kremlin’s reaffirmation of its broad targeting strategy comes amid heightened diplomatic tension, with Poland urging NATO to consider a coordinated response to any further violations of its airspace. European partners have expressed concern over the potential escalation of hostilities that could draw the alliance into direct confrontation.
