Russia finds talks with U.S. envoys useful

Moscow’s foreign‑policy adviser Yuri Ushakov said that recent discussions between President Vladimir Putin and two United States envoys were “highly useful” as Washington seeks to revive stalled peace talks over the conflict in Ukraine. The U.S. representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, met with Putin and presented a series of proposals that they said could open “possible avenues” for renewed negotiations between the two sides.

Ushakov’s remarks, delivered in a briefing to Russian officials, underscored the willingness of both capitals to explore diplomatic options despite the impasse that has persisted since the war began. The dialogue comes amid broader international pressure for a negotiated settlement, and the participants indicated that the ideas exchanged will be examined further by their respective governments as part of ongoing efforts to restart a peace process.
