Russia escalates rhetoric but aims to avoid war with NATO, officials say

Russia is expected to persist in its “hybrid activity” against NATO members, a statement made by Moscow officials in a recent briefing. The Kremlin clarified that while it will not launch conventional military operations against the alliance, it will continue to employ non‑kinetic methods such as cyber attacks, disinformation campaigns, economic pressure and support for proxy groups in partner states.

The policy is aimed at undermining NATO’s cohesion and influencing political processes in member countries. Analysts note that Russia has already intensified cyber espionage against defense contractors, amplified propaganda on social media platforms, and increased economic leverage over Eastern European economies that are part of the alliance.
