Researchers identify potential new treatment for Parkinson's disease
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder, affecting more than 10 million people worldwide. The condition is characterized by progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons, leading to motor symptoms such as tremor, rigidity, and bradykinesia, as well as a range of non‑motor complications.
Current therapeutic approaches focus on alleviating these symptoms through dopamine replacement, deep‑brain stimulation, and other symptomatic treatments, but they do not halt the underlying neurodegeneration that drives disease progression.
