Pumitamig + ifinatamab deruxtecan shows early activity in small cell lung cancer

The Phase Ib/II BNT324‑01 trial of the investigational combination pumitamig plus elfetabart drozuntecan (elfe‑D) has reported its first clinical data at the IASLC 2026 World Conference on Lung Cancer. Early results show a manageable safety profile and encouraging antitumor activity in patients with small‑cell lung cancer (SCLC). The findings were presented by the study investigators in a session focused on emerging therapies for SCLC.

In the open‑label study, patients received the dual‑agent regimen as part of a dose‑escalation and expansion phase designed to evaluate safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy. Adverse events were largely low‑grade and consistent with the known profiles of the individual agents, and no new safety signals were identified. Tumor response data, though preliminary, indicated objective responses in a subset of participants, suggesting that the combination may exert meaningful antitumor effects in this aggressive disease.

The trial will continue to accrue patients and collect longer‑term data on efficacy and durability of response. If subsequent results confirm these early signals, the pumitamig/elfe‑D combination could represent a new therapeutic option for SCLC, a cancer type that remains in urgent need of effective treatments.
