Pollock Declines Northampton Deal, Remains Open to Other Options

Henry Pollock, the 21‑year‑old flanker for Northampton Saints, has yet to confirm a contract extension beyond the end of the current season. The England back‑rower, who toured with the British & Irish Lions last year, has said he remains “open to every opportunity,” including playing abroad or pursuing other sports, even as the club has offered him a significant pay rise to more than £400,000 a year to keep him at Franklin’s Gardens until 2029.

Pollock’s new promoter, Eddie Hearn, has highlighted the player’s commercial and on‑field value, calling him a “seven‑figure player.” However, Premiership salary‑cap regulations mean that few, if any, other English clubs can match such an offer, leaving Northampton’s confidence that Pollock will stay largely unshaken. The flanker’s own remarks that “you almost have to be quite selfish” suggest he is weighing his options carefully, but the Saints are poised to secure his services if he chooses to remain.
